Current needs

Here is the list of current needs by essential workers. Please consult the specific request to make sure that the patterns you are sewing or equipment you are donating are accepted by the intended recipient!

Patterns and Materials

BHcare, Inc.

We are providing reusable masks to over 3000 clients at BHcare- where we provide mental health and substance abuse for our community that spans all ages. Our programs also provide mental health care for children, as well as domestic violence services to families. We have a unique need in that most of our clients live below the poverty line.
Your org has helped up meet the need of about 1000 masks, but we continue to need more as we see patients and our in-person appointments and services pick back up.
Additionally, we now need more cloth masks for children to provide for kids who come through our domestic violence safe houses. We will also need 50 Clear Window face masks. We have a number of child clients who are deaf or hard of hearing and we need those masks to best communicate with them.

Metropolitan (3rd Request)

” would like to request another 75-100 caps for men/women please as more and more requests being made.”
Need form completed by Liz.

JCCA

Our NYC based programs are just starting to open. We run programs in the city for the foster care system and our workers are now needing to return to visiting children and their families, sometimes biological, sometimes foster, so if you are still making masks we would really appreciate them for the NYC based folks.

CT daycare facility

Prefer nose support (washable!!) and filter pocket. Needed prior to July 6th. Olson pattern would be great, but any pattern appreciated.

The Daily Food Bread

Looking for masks to distribute to recipients of food panty – average of 200 recipients per distribution. Distribute Mondays and Fridays – Recipients limited to coming 2x/month

The Institute of Professional Practice

The Institute of Professional Practice (www.ippi.org) is a not for profit organization supporting people with developmental disabilities in residential settings in CT, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Vermont. We would like to request assistance with PPE for essential caregivers to provide the support they need to maintain their health and the health of the people they support within their homes.

Ossining Micro Fund

I am a board member of the Ossining Micro Fund. We are a 501(c) (3) organization that makes interest free loans to Ossining residents who qualify & have an expenses that falls outside their monthly income. We serve a very vulnerable low income population & would like to get masks for them all of them. We have 81 active loans & many are having even more problems now. Each could be between 1-5 family members. If we could order 250 adult mask, we have some mask makers in Ossining making kids & adult masks but it is slow going as so many sewers are living in the Village & many are sick. I have about 50 kids size left but give them out all day to anyone I see out that’s gave isn’t covered.

Norwalk Community Health Center

We would love the same masks that you filled from our previous order but with more done in a neutral or masculine fabric for our male doctors and nurses.

BHcare, Inc.

Our clients need masks. We will take any amount of masks you can provide. We need to outfit our needy patients with masks so they are safe when they venture out for basic needs. BHcare provides comprehensive behavioral health, prevention and domestic violence services to both adults and children in the Greater New Haven area (from the Valley up through the Shoreline). We have 3200 clients receiving mental health and substance abuse services and 87% of them are below the poverty line. We need cloth masks for them so they can function safely. Aside from being financially insecure, many have pre-existing health conditions as well. Thank you in advance!

Since these masks are for different purposes, I will accept anything. Medical staff and first responders have priority, vulnerable populations as well. I will leave it up to your discretion I’d be most grateful for anything that you can provide. The gowns are for EMS. If there are medical N95s available, they would be allocated to staff at our partner hospitals in NY.

Jacobi Medical Center

This hospital is in one of the epicenters of Covid-19 in New York City, specifically in The Bronx. We will accept any mask design and so appreciate your help

St. Patrick’s Home (Bronx)

I’m a volunteer with the Home (my mother is a resident there). The administrator, Sr. Diane, says that they greatly need gowns, but she didn’t tell me how many. They’ve had 16 resident deaths so far and more diagnoses today. (And, presumably staff members sick as well.) Sr. Diane is stretched pretty thinly so I told her that I would look for gown donations. I am talking with other groups about mask donations– so that’s not as great a need right now. I’m happy to help in any way– including financially. My name is Nora Harrington, nth02130@yahoo.com, 617-501-3861.

The Bronx Defenders (for our low-income clients in the Bronx)

We are the Bronx Defenders, Family Defense Practice. We represent parents in Bronx who are involved in the foster care and child welfare system. We currently serve around 2300 families in the Bronx, most of whom are low income black and brown parents.
New York has just extended its lockdown until May 15, 2020 and has made it a requirement for individuals going outside to wear face masks. It has also been reported that black and brown people are dying of coronavirus complications are rates more than twice their share of the population.
Our clients lack the financial means and resources to obtain face masks in order to perform the necessary tasks of going outside to get groceries. We have access to a large community of highly impacted and high-risk individuals who also are taking care of their families. The need is high and the impact of assistance can be great and immediate!!

Key Human Services

Key Human Services supports individuals with disabilities in community based homes. Our staff need protective equipment to reduce risk while providing safe and consistent care to these individuals. We appreciate your support for our essential workers!

Military squad

Sergeants have asked for dark solid colors or camouflage.

Citizens Options Unlimited, Intensive Care Facility

We have several confirmed cases of Corona Virus here at the ICF which puts everyone at risk. We’re unable to properly isolate the infected persons and are doing the best we can with what we are given. We are hoping to stop the spread as it can quickly move from one person to the next and our population cannot fight this off. Any help would be appreciated.

Mamaroneck EMS

As stated above, Mamaroneck EMS is a volunteer ambulance corps. operating in the Village of Mamaroneck. We have completely run out of gowns for our volunteers to use on suspected Covid19 calls and we are running dangerously low on n95 masks.

CP Nassau at Bayville

A long term care facility for ppl with disabilities needs proper PEE for staffs caring for covid19 positive residents

NYU Langone – Bellevue

Queens Hospital

There are so many patients that supplies are running very low. Right now we need masks to go over or cover our N95 masks to help prolong the use. Plastic face shields is another need to prevent droplets from entering eyes etc.

Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster

During the Coronavirus outbreak, Catholic Charities is open to provide a helping hand to those who are struggling. To protect the health and well-being of both Catholic Charities’ clients and employees, program adjustments have been made to promote responsible social distancing.

However, due to the nature of some of our programs, we have staff who continue to provide direct client care in our three-county service area. These include a food pantry, homeless shelter, warming center, halfway house, and a 46-bed residential congregate care facility for those in recovery from substance-use disorder. We also have nurses and physicians who continue to provide medication-assisted treatment for individuals in recovery.

Unfortunately, Catholic Charities has little, to no, access to Personal Protective Equipment. We are working with our local, state, and federal officials to obtain access.

We have also been reaching out to the big box stores, local hardware stores, nail salons, dentists, and others for access to any available inventory. The need is great, and the supply is limited and most availability is going directly to hospitals and first responders.

Given the histories of most of the individuals we serve, this pandemic only magnifies their emotional distress. It is imperative – for the health and well-being of both our clients and our employees – that Catholic Charities’ direct care staff have the appropriate protective equipment to provide the necessary care and support to those we serve.

We are also grateful for monetary donations that can be made at www.cccsos.org.

We are very grateful for our friends and neighbors who are giving back to their community.
Catholic Charities provides services to those in need regardless of religion or ability to pay.

“SEWING TIPS!” =>
– Use cardboard form to pencil your rectangles on the fabric then cut!
– We now need TWO sizes: 8”x11” and 6″ x 9” (both take 7” elastic)
– Use 2 pieces masking tape on the table to measure off 7” in between and then measure elastic to snip
– On 6×9 are fine with ONLY 2 PLEATS and you do NOT really need to pin down
– But you need three pleats on the 8×11 size
– all masks will be sterilized by the hospital upon arrival!
